At Wat Dallas we have a Buddhist Discussion Group for Western Students in English Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Main Building after Chanting and Meditation. If you are interested in Buddhism or are a practicing Buddhist.Please join us on for an open discussion on Dhamma. Please question everything and come with all your questions. If you are needing assistance in becoming a monk and wish to learn more please contact Jack Boling. Kent and Jack Boling will be leading the discussion on Buddhism. Objectives and Activities of the Buddhist Center of Dallas
To offer morning and evening chanting with meditation to lay people.
Offer lay people the opportunity to make merit by designating every Sunday as a "Buddhist Holiday". Where lay people can offer food/aims and decide morning chanting while monks have a lunch. The lay people will receive the "Five precepts" and blessing for the monks.
Arrange for monks from Thailand to have a chance to visit the Buddhist Center of Dallas as a guest lectures.
Provides students/visitors programs about Buddhism and Thai language and culture.
Distribution Buddhist publications, audiocassettes and media information to lay people interested in Buddhism.
Provide lecture about Buddhism to any requesting public institution.
Provide a Dhamma Class and meditation on Tuesday and Wednesday in English on 07:00 pm.
Daily Activities
08:00 a.m. Morning Chanting (approx. 30 minutes).
11:00 a.m. Religious ceremony and food/alms offering to the monks (approx. one hour).
06:00 p.m. Evening Chanting and Meditation (approx. one hour). For winter time 05:00 p.m.
Weekends
Thai cultural and language studies for children (K-12) on Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 a.m. - 03:00 p.m. This program is a cooperation between the Buddhist Center of Dallas and the Department of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Chulalongkorn University is one of the most prestigious University in Thailand and provide volunteer teachers. The classes are designed to provide ethnic Thai children and opportunity to learn and experience native Thai cultures, Thai mores and language.
Thai cultural and language classes for American (Adults) are held every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
